The challenge

Keep React already had a following, and Vue developers wanted the same components. A straight line-by-line port would not work: React and Vue think about state, slots and composition differently.

The approach

I rebuilt the library the Vue way, keeping the look and the API names familiar to Keep React users while using Vue's own patterns underneath.

  • Same design language as Keep React, so teams using both frameworks get a consistent UI.
  • Vue-native composition: slots instead of render props, v-model where it makes sense.
  • Tailwind CSS for styling, so the components stay easy to theme.

What I learned

Porting a library is mostly about translation, not transcription: the goal is that it feels native in its new home.
